It’s beautiful creations like Carl F. Bucherer’s Heritage BiCompax unifying legacy and modern day watchmaking that ignite my ever growing enthusiasm for fine watchmaking.

For this definitive timepiece, Carl F. Bucherer has referenced the iconic and refined form of their 1956 vintage chronograph. This updated version sees a contemporary 41 mm case available for purchase in two versions each limited to only 888 pieces - one in stainless steel with a silver and black panda dial and the other in two-tone steel and rose gold with a champagne and rose dial.

With an objectively thick silhouette at 14.05mm x 41mm, Carl F. Bucherer has done a fantastic job of making the watch feel lighter on the wrist than one might not expect when taking a look initially.

Created for the modern wrist watch aficionado who is able to prioritize the convenience of straight forward detail, the face features syringe hands, a date display, and a tachymeter scale. Contributing to its vintage touch, everything else remains minimized and detail oriented making for a well coordinated design scheme.

In consideration of both styles, not only have my expectations for high chronograph complications been elevated, I’ve also been prompted to never disregard rubber and calfskin strap combinations. I personally prefer the uniqueness and the settled in feel in the two toned option because it feels more classically established and valuable.

There is certainly a place for watchmaking that offers a pleasantly simple and functional standard, and the Heritage BiCompax Annual is a first class model of this approach.
