Monday Strolls | Shawl Collar

It's starting to feel more like the Fall season here in the city of New York. With the temperatures dropping so drastically within the past few days, it is safe to say that light layering is in full effect and I have decided to start with the shawl collared sweater. From general observation, I have found that there are not enough males who fancy the idea of wearing a shawl collared sweater which is understandable because it could be a bit of a struggle to style sometimes hence the reason why I never looked into buying one until I got it as a christmas gift last year.

For today's post, I am wearing the sweater as an exterior over a button up shirt which could have easily been paired with a tie but due to personal preference, I passed on it. On highlighting the versatility on shawl collared sweaters, they can also be paired with turtle necks and if it is a little too chilly outside, a blazer can always be featured as an outer layer on the sweater. When it comes to incorporating shawl collared sweaters into an outfit, an element of proportion and adaptability is automatically added to your wardrobe. This style staple is fall, winter and spring appropriate. You can dress it up or down for any cause and the thickness of the sweater is the key factor that makes it the quintessential layering piece.

So, if you are a little bored of wearing the same old crew/v neck sweater, try changing things up with a shawl collar.
