sleek styles to witness and experience.

Organized by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, international watch and jewelry trade show, Watches & Wonders Geneva commences this week from April 7 - 13. This event encompasses a digital preview of the newest timepieces from the world’s most famed luxury brands for the next few days.

For fine watch making enthusiasts such as myself, not only does this create the opportunity for forums around innovation and modern craftsmanship, it also means a potential update to my wrist watch collection. From updated heritage collections to new analog styles that suit the modern consumer, there’ll be plenty of sleek styles to witness and experience.

That being stated, there’s one timepiece I am very excited about amongst the other offerings that’ll be showcased by Carl F. Bucherer this season. It’s the new edition of The Heritage BiCompax Annual available in two editions, with a black leather and rubber strap.

The idea behind Carl F. Bucherer’s heritage collection highlights the history of the beautiful timepieces created by the brand with a modern twist.

In the case of The Heritage BiCompax Annual, its inspiration stems from the 50s when the chronograph function started to become popular.

In 1956, Carl F. Bucherer created a unique chronograph design that was projected to be ahead of its time, featuring a 34mm case with push buttons and a gold plating. Indeed, a stunning piece that reads very classic and traditional in aesthetic for vintage lovers but also complicated enough in features for mechanical enthusiasts.

Playing house to a CFB 1972 automatic (modified base ETA 2894) chronograph movement, the latest Heritage BiCompax Annual itself is an upgrade for both traditionalists and contemporary timepiece collectors.

While the timepiece still feels very nostalgic because of its stainless steel exterior, featuring a deep brushed black dial with silver-colored sub-counters, there are features that feel on par with modern versatility. For one, it is 30 meters water resistant and furnished with a power reserve of 42 hours. A smart mechanical decision for the timepiece geared towards palatable accessibility to its targeted consumers.

The merging of a two-register Bicompax chronograph with an annual calendar is another feature to note. Safeguarded by a double-domed sapphire crystal case, the large two digit date display of the calendar complemented by the silver colored chronograph counters and the tachymeter scale (used for measuring distance and speed) is as eye-catching as it is elegant and cosmopolitan.

Complementary touches include its folding pin buckle and Black leather strap with silver colored stitching, exuding the perfect medium between utilitarianism and chic sophistication.
