This open knit statement sweater is definitely far from an essential wardrobe piece. However, if you’re the kind of fashion consumer who is able to appreciate a one of a kind item, a design like this is very special. It is made with 100% wool and like most statement sweaters, it is not to be worn often. Its intricate design and delicate nature calls for wear every once in a while.

When it comes to styling a statement item like this open knit Saint Laurent sweater, keeping focus on the item is key to pulling off a successful look. MY formula calls for pairing the piece with supporting items that will blend in - with color and silhouette. With this Saint Laurent number in particular, I chose black to fill out the look. It’s a primary color that is already featured on the sweater that doesn’t allow for distraction away from its detail.

If you like to keep things clean and pristine, this formula almost never fails. I’m wearing clean cut trousers from Bottega Veneta with a DERBY from Bostonian. If you like to keep things a bit more casual, black jeans are a great substitute for tailored trousers as much as white sneakers are a great substitute for THE DERBY.
